Does aftermarket an hood need hood pins?

This question comes up so much these days, the question is does an aftermarket hood need hood pins? Unfortunately this question is not so easy to answer, some people drive their cars fast and some people drive them the speed limit. Depending on the style of driver that you are and how you are driving your car you may want to consider grabbing a set. Several factors go into the decision-making process first and foremost where did you buy your hood , what is the warranty, is this some eBay hood or a brand name. I can tell you that if you bought it and it was very cheap you will need hood pins. nine times out of 10 those are the type of car hoods that fly up and break your windshield. If you’re saving that much money on your automotive good you might as well spend the additional 20 bucks and make sure it doesn’t kill you on the road. I have had it happened to me before driving down the freeway at about 65 mph and my car as it flew up broke my windshield and I was driving down the street like Ace Ventura with my head out of the window.
Needless to say it was not a fun ride and I stammered to find a way to explain the damage. $20 would’ve been a lot better than a $500 deductible which was pretty much twice as much that I pay for the hood alone. on the other hand there are several companies that do make high quality hoods. Trufiber, carbon by design all sold at at highly competitive prices are a whole lot better.
As long as you are buying a quality fitted that has some sort of warranty on the closes and opens properly you should be fine. The experts will always tell you to purchase Hood Pins if you are going to replace your stock hood. However if you purchase a quality product you should be able to get around town and up and down the freeway without it flying off. If you intend to go to the track then you need hood pins. If you intend to go cheap on your purchase then you will need hood pins!
