Does aftermarket an hood need hood pins?

This question comes up so much these days, the question is does an aftermarket hood need hood pins? Unfortunately this question is not so easy to answer, some people drive their cars fast and some people drive them the speed limit. Depending on the style of driver that you are and how you are driving your car you may want to consider grabbing a set. Several factors go into the decision-making process first and foremost where did you buy your hood , what is the warranty, is this some eBay hood or a brand name. I can tell you that if you bought it and it was very cheap you will need hood pins. nine times out of 10 those are the type of car hoods that fly up and break your windshield. If you’re saving that much money on your automotive good you might as well spend the additional 20 bucks and make sure it doesn’t kill you on the road. I have had it happened to me before driving down the freeway at about 65 mph and my car as it flew up broke my windshield and I was driving down the street like Ace Ventura with my head out of the window.
Needless to say it was not a fun ride and I stammered to find a way to explain the damage. $20 would’ve been a lot better than a $500 deductible which was pretty much twice as much that I pay for the hood alone. on the other hand there are several companies that do make high quality hoods. Trufiber, carbon by design all sold at at highly competitive prices are a whole lot better.
As long as you are buying a quality fitted that has some sort of warranty on the closes and opens properly you should be fine. The experts will always tell you to purchase Hood Pins if you are going to replace your stock hood. However if you purchase a quality product you should be able to get around town and up and down the freeway without it flying off. If you intend to go to the track then you need hood pins. If you intend to go cheap on your purchase then you will need hood pins!

Tasteful Add Ons

In a world where budgeting is the main factor in dressing up a car truck or SUV we need to be mindful about how we dress up our vehicles using cheaper techniques. We all want our rides to have that special Spark that no other vehicle has, but for many of us our wallets are screaming to conserve which item to add to a vehicle. Exterior accessories are usually the best place to start when looking for a small and inexpensive product to add to your vehicle which may add a dime to your car. Some tasteful add-ons can include chrome overlay products, but be weary that these can look overdone if you add too many to the car. We suggest door handle covers, because they usually are the most tasteful and gives your truck or car a bit of a luxury feel without overclocking your budget. Chrome overlays usually cost within the range of $200 and below. This will not break your wallet, and could possibly have a positive effect on the resale value of your vehicle.
Our next big-ticket item would be a front lip, a front lit can add the aggression that you might be looking for in a vehicle without overdoing it with a nasty looking body kit. Many of us purchase body kits because we get into accidents, however finding aftermarket OEM replacement from bumper along with a decent front lip will do wonders for the styling appearance of your car or truck and add some value.
Hoods and its groups are also another good way to dress up your vehicle, hoods can come in carbon fiber which means that you don’t have to paint them. But we have noted that you usually will need to do a coat of clear coat for them to stay looking nice for a long period of time. A hood can roughly cost you in the range of 300 although way up to $2000. Our best recommendation for purchasing a hood is a fiberglass one. These are inexpensive and you can paint them to match the color of your car. Many decent fiberglass hoods will come with warranties and fitment guarantees. This can give you some style on dime, without you worrying about it going out of style. I know that we did not touch on it very much but good scoops are also a good way to add to the vehicle. They usually are very inexpensive and easy to install.
Headlights and tail light add-ons are always a good way to improve visibility on the road and resell value of your car. Be prepared however because you do get what you pay for in these items. I personally believe that certain taillights are not in style such as the really wild chromed out taillights. Also some of the dual halo projector headlights look really buggy looking during the day, I find that the black sets are usually the best bang for your buck.

2010 CHEVROLET CAMARO LT 3.6Liters/V6 pro-kit lower springs Reviewed

Eibach has made a great set of Springs for the V6 LS and LT models. As the new models rolloff the lot the new Chevrolet 2010 Camaro shows it has everything a sports car enthusiast could want wrapped into a beautiful price range. Even if you can’t drive off the lot and an SS because it guzzles too much gas, that doesn’t mean that your second rate because the V6 model has a lot to give beyond fuel savings. We were able to tap into Eibach’s V6 Springs this November 2009 and find out a little bit more about what this kit can do for your LS or TL model.

So as with most of Eibach’s pro-kits this one is pretty standard it drops your car height from stock position down to 1 1/3″ giving your fuel saving Camaro a bit of road eating center of gravity. Better turning capabilities were noted as we didn’t feel as swayed as much as the stock Springs but I believe the best came from the way it looked. The drop of the vehicle pushing gently towards the tire gave the car a complete makeover at a fraction of the cost. Backed by the expertise of Eibach you know that you were going to get the best product on the market.

We rate these Springs 7 out of 10. Whereas they don’t give much leeway to performance they do change the overall look of your car. No loud noises and a low center force leaves us to believe that these are a commuter’s answer to a boring day at work.

Prices on this kit varies, however you can find it at most places for around $285 with an MSRP of $349

2010 Chevrolet Camaro exclusive droptop Camero

Courtesy of Viniati Camaros we have found out that there is a new sheriff in town, and if you can afford to convert your brand-new 2010 Chevrolet Camaro into a convertible been by far you have earned and gain the respect of just about anyone in the automotive community. Your car will be guaranteed to have a spread in any magazine because this option is definitely only for the wealthy. Getting this droptop onto your brand-new Camaro won’t be as easy as it looks in the picture however the group over at Viniati Camaros have teamed up with NCE to deliver these bad boys in the local an extended area of California Sacramento. Prices for the convertible will range between $16,000 and $20,000 depending on the pickup and drop-off locations. Local dealer options have been taken into consideration and they will be offering this to certain dealerships in the Sacramento region if you wish to get it done. Still not clear on exactly what the warranty is on it and how it will affect your warranty, but what we do know is that when this car leaves the lot it will be a jaw dropping event. For more information on purchasing or any information on NCE give them a call at 8888464284.

Our review on the item is only circumstantial because we have not enabled to physically hold one of these beasts in our hands, however we are working very closely to do so very soon. We would rate this conversion just by looks alone a 10 out of 10. We would still love to see how it functions on a everyday basis and can it withstand the wear and tear that a regular OEM convertible is able to. Knowing the warranty will be critical in our final assessment, so stay tuned because we will have it shortly. Other than that enjoy these beautiful pictures and let us know your comments.

What it means to be a retailer online

Today we’re going to talk about a few things that separate very good well informed websites versus unsecure harmful and possibly fraudulent websites. I hope that this post will help you make a proper decision on whether or not to purchase an item from any particular store. First off we all have to realize that this is the aftermarket product world, and if we intend to beef up our automobiles then we will have to make some type of purchase online. Because as we all know they don’t always sell products for our Subaru, Honda, Ford, Toyota, Chevrolet, Scion at Wal-Mart that we want! So it is up to us to find the right route and the right product online. Buying online doesn’t sound so tricky however if you get stuck buying a part which you think that you’ve got a great deal on you might also be stuck if something goes wrong with it. We all have to be recognized as equal citizens and do our proper research before clicking that final purchase.

Up front the first thing that you as a consumer can do to protect yourself is find out a little bit about the business before you make your purchase, I always tell people who would like to make a purchase online to please watch out and purchase at secure sites. What does it mean to be secure? Well it means just about everything, I don’t want my credit card to be stolen and sold on some sort of black-market website and my good credit to be ruined by some goon sticking his nose around in places that are exposed. I don’t want my wife to try and address if I know that a store manager is watching her, this is how you should approach purchasing online. Make sure the site is secure most sites in 2010 will be PCI compliant which means that they will have to go to great length to protect the security of their customers and their credit cards. So if you want to purchase that beautiful hood make sure the website that you’re using has undergone some sort of PCI compliance. For the most part you should see the security symbol during checkout (usually the symbol is a locked lock)

Next I would like to get into what it means to be a legitimate business rather than someone who’s looking to make very minimum and give you the very minimum. These are the sites that list products for unbelievable prices, that are just so unreal and destroy the competition. These websites are what you need to stay away from. I do not mean to say that and come off as a quote unquote hater to those type of businesses, but you will easily find that those websites are not very helpful and will just as easily your money up as they do spend it before you’re able to retrieve a dime of it. These companies also do the bare minimum, and they never will go above and beyond so don’t ever expect them to. They will never admit when they are wrong, then they will stick you with every single last penny if you’re returning the product (if they even take returns). The biggest role that I have here is that you look for one thing you look to see if they are BBB accredited. Most online stores that sell body kits, hoods, fenders, headlights, tail lights, performance parts and accessories are not BBB accredited. What does this mean? It means that they are not backed by the Better Business Bureau, and usually have a score rating of an F. or below. There are few sites who are BBB accredited to sell aftermarket parts and accessories one off the top of my head is http://www.viniati.com which as of today has a rating of a B. plus. These are the sites that you need to be ordering from, sites like eBay can give you the best deals out there and a lot of people are making a lot of good money selling on eBay and micro sites that do not carry the BBB accreditation. Not all of these people selling are bad, however you do not guarantee yourself a proper resolution if something does go bad. If you are dealing with a BBB accredited business you will know that your problem will be strictly addressed if something bad were to happen, and in the aftermarket parts and accessories world each item and each sale is roughly around the price range of $200. At that price it is good to have a little insurance.

To find out if a business or the business day you will be purchasing from his BBB accredited please find out at http://www.bbb.org/

This is a pretty rough look at purchasing aftermarket parts and accessories online, and it is a very simple one for a good reason. I don’t want you to just look at this and just skim through it and babble on about this that and the other, however I do want to give you a sense of what it means to deal with a proper business and to purchase online. Now go forth and find the right site at the right price and make sure they are compliant and have the BBB accreditation!

 Just my two cents

Scion XB fog light review

Today we are going to review set of scion xB fog lights.

The Scion XB comes with many features however none of them include a set of fog lights, this set of fog or so we thought for the Scion XA are very up to date and they look great to. Fog lights do many things some of which include providing higher or better visibility during foggy settings such as driving through in the morning
